Best Practice Overview
Overview
The first Online Crowdsourcing Platform for Youth, called ‘Platform EKFRACY’, is a pioneering initiative of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus. This platform aims to bring the voice of young people to the forefront. Fully aware of the challenges facing the youth and with full respect for their needs, the Presidency of the Republic has proceeded with the creation of this platform. For the first time, there is such an organized effort to collect views from the entire youth, while offering feedback from the government itself and its officials, led by the President of the Republic.
Registration and Participation
The design of the EKFRACY Platform was based on the ease of registration and participation, in order to encourage the active involvement of all young people in our country. Registration is simple and quick through the website www.ekfracy.gov.cy.
Announcement
We are pleased to announce the launch of the EKFRACY platform, the first online crowdsourcing platform for youth. This new initiative aims to actively involve young people in shaping policies and actions that affect their future, as well as their daily lives.
Importance of Youth Participation
For us, enhancing youth participation in democracy and promoting their views is vital for democracy, societal development, and addressing the challenges they face.
Launch Date and First Discussion Topic
The platform will officially launch on Thursday, July 25, 2024, with the first discussion topic being Housing for Youth.
Opportunities Provided by EKFRACY
The EKFRACY platform will offer young people the opportunity to:
- Submit ideas and proposals on issues that concern them and affect their daily lives, such as education, housing, transportation, employment, environment, and social cohesion.
- Participate in online discussions and forums to exchange views and develop innovative solutions.
Feedback Mechanism
Every three weeks, specifically every third Thursday, we will post questions seeking the opinions, comments, and ideas of our youth, so we can learn directly from them how they want the government to act.
Social Media Engagement
Through the platform’s social media channels, young people will receive updates, as we will present the best proposals submitted by the youth. In the same space, our youth will receive responses, comments, and updates from the relevant government ministers depending on the topic.
Part of Broader Efforts
This platform is part of the broader efforts of the Presidency to enhance participatory democracy and improve the quality of life for young people in our country. Through active participation, our youth will have the opportunity to express their needs and aspirations, contributing significantly to shaping a better future and better governance.
Call to Action
We invite all young people to register and participate in the platform, so their voice can be heard and their power in decision-making can be seen.
Final Note
You, the young people, have the unique privilege of seeing the world and your country with the main concern being its better future. Use EKFRACY to share with us how you envision the Cyprus you want!
